Kernel updates questions

Questions and discussions related to Inforce 6601™ development kit

by tamo2 » Thu Jan 25, 2018 10:30 am

Hi. For the 6601 development board I am using Linux versus Android. Can you give me information on when the Kernel updates will happen? Are they updates from Linaro? Or where does the source come from?
It looks like for building the kernel, there is a method1 or method2 to get the sources. Method2 does this: git clone git://codeaurora.org/kernel/msm-3.18.git kernel -b LA.HB.1.3.2-27300-8x96.0
Is this from Linaro? How will we know to get new kernel sources? Will you post to Inforce website always?

Thanks,
Tamo

Hi Tamo,

The Kernel sources for our SD820 boards are based on the android 3.18 kernel. These sources are not from linaro, but are from qualcomm with changes made by Inforce.

There is currently no plan on updating the kernel version as it is stable.

The kernel sources are available with the linux release for IFC6640/6601.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,
Ashwin

Hi Ashwin,

Where are the the drivers coming from? Camera drivers in particular. When would we see updates? Would we get to see the source for the drivers always?

Thanks,
tamo

Hi Tamo,

Yes the camera driver should be accesible on the linux release. The camera driver is a modification of the IFC6309 camera driver for OV5640 camera.
