HDMI monitor resolution

Questions and discussions related to Inforce 6640 Micro SBC

What is involved in supporting an HDMI monitor that has a resolution other than 1920x1080? In my (limited) testing so far, native 1920x1080 monitors work OK. One 1920x1200 monitor works OK, but only because it can display 1920x1080 signal. I can't get a 1280x800 panel to display anything intelligible.

All standard resolutions are supported on HDMI by default in the BSP but the rendering would be based on EDID negotiation after which the best mode is chosen (which explains why 1920x1080 is chosen on your 1920x1200 monitor). For a non standard resolution to be supported, the HDMI PLL registers have to be programmed to achieve the right pixel clock rate. Hope this helps.
